Coach Colin Wheeler

Coach Colin first learned how to play chess when he was ten years old while growing up in England. His current USCF Rating is 1629.

When Colin emigrated to the USA, he placed 3rd in the U1400 division at the Springfield Chess Club Championship and he placed 5th in the U1600 section at the Bradley Open.

In the 2019 Stamford Open, Colin finished 5th out of 47 players in the U1710 Division. He won three matches, drew one and lost one. Colin is currently rated 1629.

Colin has developed many DIG Chess players to become tournament players. One of his Hartford players placed first in his division at these three tournaments in 2018: Stamford Open, Greater Hartford Scholastic Chess Championship and the Weston DIG Chess Tournament. That player is now rated 1305.

Coach Colin graduated from Brighton Technical College with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Production Engineering. He is a Regional Operations Director for Dent Wizard International and of course a DIG Coach!
