If there’s a game to play, Coach Victor is all in!
Originally from Honduras, Victor grew up playing soccer with his family, where he learned the value of teamwork, competition, and having fun. His love of sports continued into college, where he played lacrosse, but one of his biggest passions today might surprise you—chess!
Victor didn’t discover competitive chess until he joined DIG. Starting with a rating of just 300, he challenged himself to improve and worked his way to an impressive 1,100+ rating. Now, one of his favorite things is helping kids discover how exciting chess can be, teaching them strategies, critical thinking, and confidence one move at a time.
Coaching has always come naturally to Victor. With both his mom and sister working as teachers, inspiring and encouraging young people runs in the family. He also volunteers with youth groups and loves finding ways to help kids grow both on and off the field.
Victor’s hard work and leadership earned him the title of DIG Coach of the Year in 2024, and he quickly worked his way from DIG Coach to Director of DIGbefore relocating with his family. Along the way, he became known for his positive attitude, creativity, and ability to connect with every camper.
When he’s not coaching, you’ll probably find Victor making videos, sharpening his chess game, or finding a new challenge to tackle. Whether it’s sports, chess, or simply making camp the best part of a child’s summer, Coach Victor brings energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for helping kids learn, grow, and have fun.
