Chess 3v3 League

What is the 3 vs. 3 League?

Team chess competition with 3 players in a team. You could pick your own teammates or we could help you find players! Every team is going to compete with another team each week. All the games will be conducted through chess.com

How does this tournament work each week?

  1. On Sunday, each team player will receive an email with their opponent’s name and chess.com username.
  2. Then, each player must email their opponent and schedule a time to play.
  3. Each player plays two matches against their opponent (one game as white and other game as black).
  4. All the games must be played by the end of the week – by 6:00pm (Sunday)
  5. If one of the players emailed their opponent, and they didn’t respond by Sunday, the player who emailed will receive the full points.

How does the point system work?

Each player will get the following points, based on the results:

  • Win = 2 points
  • Draw = 1 point
  • Loss = 0 point

Sections:

  • Beginners: Average team Chess.com rapid rating of 100-500 (add up all 3 players’ chess.com ratings and divided by 3)
  • Advanced: Average team Chess.com rapid rating of 500-1600 (add up all 3 players’ chess.com ratings and divide by 3)

Note:

Between the 2 teams, the one with the most points will win for that week! If both teams scored equal points, it will be recorded as a tie.

All the game results will be posted on the DIG website!
